Results of Raffles

The raffles recently conducted by Mothers for Orphans were drawn at the Annual Dinner held at the Irish Club on September 26.

The crafted patchwork quilt donated by Alison from www.iquilt.com.au was won by Louise West of Port Douglas. The $1000 travel voucher was won by Kevin Kielly. Kevin was present at the dinner and generously gifted the voucher back to me to use for this year's trip to Zimbabwe!

Thank you to all those who purchased tickets.

The great Oliver 'Tuku' Mtukudzi is once again scheduled to play in Brisbane. He was supposed to play Brisbane last year but the gig was dropped from the tour. Let's hope he makes it this time!

We just received a donation of $50 from a young man named Aaron. He couldn't get to our annual dinner in November last year, so has donated $50 instead! This wonderful act says a lot about Aaron and its all good.

Zim Govt restrictions on O/S charities

Friday 06 June, 2008 - 21:18 by Constance Polain in Default

You may of heard today that the Zimbabwean government has moved to stop the operation of foreign charities in the country. Due to our business model, this decree has no immediate effect on Mothers for Orphans. Just yesterday we paid Term 2 school fees for 101 orphaned high school students and 'A Level' exam fees for 6 orphans.

When the (sea) eagle flies

I suspect one of our Manly-Warringah located sponsors may have used their annual tax-time consultation with their accountant to do a little promotion on Mothers for Orphans' behalf.

The staff at Allan Hall Chartered Accountants in Brookvale have made a generous donation of $220 to Mothers for Orphans. Thank you, Scott, Shayne and the team. If anyone down that way is looking for an accountancy firm with something special, please give them a call on (02) 9981 2300.
